why don't the Harts have any children?

They certainly are having sex all the time, in all kinds of places, and it seems to be the only thing they are thinking about. So why don't they have any children? Has it ever been mentioned?

They don't have children because they love one another and are content with each other. They don't have some sick and twisted need to see themselves replicated. They don't want to provide more humans for the population explosion that everyone has forgotten about.

They probably don't want a dirty bag of poop around the house~~~i.e. they don't want a 'baby'.

Board,

The short answer to this question is that the Harts lived a dangerous and risque lifestyle, ie...chasing the bad guys... and they would have placed any children at risk of harm!!!
Plus, you cant be free wheeling jet setters loaded down with children as excess baggage!!

Maybe one or the other couldn't have children. Children don't work well in action and adventure shows anyway. With Jonathon and Jennifer always off on some dangerous case it would make them look like bad parents. The producers and writers wouldn't have wanted their heroes depicted that way.

They had Freeway though. He was their child as often pets are to people. She referred to him as her baby many times, and both of them were referred as mama and daddy in regards to Freeway.

They weren't terribly young when they met. I'm pretty sure it wasn't possible.

Jennifer was in her 30s in the first episode (if she's the same age as the actress portraying her). It should have been possible, from an age standpoint.

Oh heck yes, of course, it was possible. RJ was playing a bit younger than his real age, Stefanie was playing in her 30's. The reason they had no children was because that was not the point of this series. This was about two people whose lives were about adventure, and a child as part of their story would have made this a very different television show And what's more is they didn't need children to build plot. It's as simple as that.

A lot of answers to the original OP about why the writers never wrote in a baby for the Harts, but was their being childless ever mentioned in dialogue on the show? I think that may have been what the OP wanted to know.
