lol. I mean, so many times, the safety of Earth and other things, heavily relied on some heroic or ingenious act by Buck, how did they deal with threats before Buck arrived in the century?
Like, they would've been toast several times at the hands of the Draconians, due to their naivete` or some incompetence, if it hadn't been for Buck intervening, lol.
The theory of Buck Rogers dreams can easily explain this. I mean, all the Buck Rogers show is just the dreams of frozen Buck on space....

My guess is that the incompetent Dr. Huer was promoted to the head of directorate position just a couple weeks before they found Buck, and before anyone could figure out what a mistake that was, Buck started saving the day regular enough to make Huer look good. Remember he previously worked in the science department, which makes for unlikely skill-set for his assumed position.
