Shown on Channel 5 again last night.Two thoughts-one, if he was just asked to plan the operation,why didn't he just stick to doing that rather than going in with the rest of them?He could have had Christmas with Emile that way-although I oppose boarding schools on principle.
Two-did he really think that custody of Emile would be awarded to Faulkner rather than his mother?Court choice-French woman, 29,mother or "out of work drunk"with the occupation of "killing perfect strangers".

Actually, his job was killing imperfect strangers. Some of the soldiers he mowed down were nasty to their dads and quite a few had wonky teeth.

It's handled better in the novel, where it's Raffer who was in trouble with the Mafia, not Sean. Raffer's art business is a failure and he fell back on old skills, which gets him mixed up in criminal activities. He ends up joining after being rescued by Alan.

"Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!"
