Another great Merc. film that seems to have escaped mention here is this.

Starring Rod Taylor, Jim Brown and Kenneth More.

That one is actually a far more realistic look at mercenaries, especially in the Congo, though it is mixing two different time periods in the Congo. It is set during the Simba Revolt, yet depicts UN peacekeepers, who were involved in the earlier Katanga secession. The book was set during that period. It shows the mercenaries for what they were, not some romantic idea of them, as did the Wild Geese.
