Who would you choose for the 4 mercenaries in the remake?

As many of us know, there will be a remake of The Wild Geese. We all know that it will not be as good as the original. Im really hoping that they stick with the idea of middle-aged commandos...I dont want to see Jason Statham and the guy who played Kirk in the new Star Trek movie in it.

So...who would you pick?

reply

Col. Allen Faulkner - Daniel Craig
Lt. Shawn Fynn - Max Beesley
Capt. Rafer Janders - Mark Strong
Lt. Pieter Coetze - Michael Nyqvist

reply

I only know Craig from that list, and he isn't nearly good enough to play this role.

And too young.

interesting choices, two bonds in the same film.

Dalton might be getting a bit old now.

Everything will be OK in the end, if it aint OK,it aint the end.

Col. Allen Faulkner - Daniel Craig
Lt. Shawn Fynn - Colin Firth
Capt. Rafer Janders - Sean Bean
Lt. Pieter Coetze - Gary Oldman

R.S.M. Sandy Young - Ray Winstone
Sir Edward Matherson - Ian McKellan (or Dalton or Brosnan)

Not bad, but I would switch Firth and Bean for those roles.

Col.Faulkner- Liam Neeson
Rafer Janders- Eric Bana
Shawn Flynn- Vincent Cassel
Pieter Coetzee- Kiefer Sutherland

I would also have Jon Voight as Matheson, Djimon Hounsou as Limbani and James Cromwell as Sandy.......

Having said all that, I love the original so much that I pray that it is never remade!

Good luck to you, you Godless murderers!

reply

Djimon Hounsou as Limbania? Are you serious? You expect little Kiefer S to cart that 240lb lump about the jungle? lol!

And too big an age gap between Neeson and Bana, Sutherland might be okay. Bottom line the original cast isn't replaceable.

reply

I'd rather see Ray Winstone as Faulkner, and Michael Sheen as Fynn :)

Sheen could play Witty ha ha

Cromwell could be Sandy alright. He's the spitting image of Watson RIP

If Hollywood remade it, knowing them it would be full of American teenagers. :(

Jason Statham will turn 44 in a couple of days. That *is* middle-aged and only a couple of years younger than the three lead actors were when they made the original.

reply

Kiefer Sutherland? Yea...

Can just see a Canadian/British guy who spends most of his time in the U.S. playing a convincing South African/Rhodesian.

reply

Just for argument's sake, a rather large number of Canadians & Americans fought in Rhodesia's & South Africa's armies.

reply

Define "rather large number"...? I would argue that it was a relatively small number when you look at the size of those armies, and indeed there were also far more European volunteers than North Americans.

All my above and your post is irrelevant anyhow. The point I was making is that the character is meant to be a Rhodesian NATIONAL not just some bloke whole happened to serve with their military. Seeing as their isn't exactly a bulging pool of young talented white Zimbabwean actors, a South African national is the next best thing.

This doesn't need to be remade. Anyone who tries should be fragged.

reply

can't see it being remade, would upset too many idiots and anyway the 1978 film is fine.
