I remember one time seeing on TV a "Time Machine" movie set in contemporary time. The machine builder worked in a modern laboratory (I think developing weapon technology for the government). He built a machine which had a solid triangular base, and another triangle for the back (where the clasic had a spinning wheel). It was not Victorian looking.

Okay, now Im confused, wasn't there a version in the 80s that featured a victorian looking time machine and the hunt for Jack the Ripper? I thought it was theatrical and not made for TV as well. I can't locate it on the IMDB, it may have had a slightly different name then the Time Machine but was definately based on the HG Wells story.
Anyone know what I am talking about? Thanks!

It was called Time After Time and the main character was HG Wells played by Malcolm McDowell. They however did not credit HG Wells as a writer so thats why I couldnt find it under his name.

shareI think that's a different movie. I remember a movie like that, something about a kid going back in time to try to save his grandpa. I don't think it's a version of the Wells story.
Hi,one can never be too rich or have too many friends. There's also a time machine in "The Three Stooges Meet Hercules",that spins around to transport them back in time
That was "The Blue Yonder" with Huckleberry Fox, Art Carney, and Peter Coyote as the grandfather.
At one point in the 1960 version, the Timeship does spin on its axis and the pilot is thrown out.
