Not a Disney Film
Take Down, was not made by Disney or any of it's long arms. This film was made in Utah, by local people of Utah. Eric Hendershot lived in Draper, Utah for a while and was a wrestling coach at one of Utah's largest High Schools.
Take Down was released in November 1978 in Utah and was a huge hit, so big that Buena Vista bought the rights to the movie to release it nation wide. Where upon release it did not fare well.
This was by far Eric Hendershot's best movie, I've seen some of his other films that he has written and they are bad compared to Take Down (I admit, that I haven't seen all Of Eric's movies). I remember watching Coach Hendershot's wrestling team in Utah...... Let's just say he's a better writer. I Like Eric Henershot, he always had a good word to say when I would see him.
This web site mentions that film locations were American Fork and Tooele, they forgot Lehi. The Lehi Roller Mills are shown in the movie when Lorenzo and Maureen are walking by the railroad tracks. The Lehi Roller Mills are still there and are next the I-15 freeway in Lehi Utah.
What amazes me, is how many big stars they were able to get for this UTAH movie. Even more amazing was how good it was. To bad it didn't catch on with the rest of the country. I think Disney was afraid of it and how they marketed it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this was one of the very first movies that Buena Vista bought and released under their banner.
