A mediocre film at best

It has a 7.4 rating on IMDB, Dustin Hoffman, Gary Busey, Harry Dean Stanton and Kathy Bates. How could I go wrong watching this film?

Well I found out quickly that I was wrong. I should have figured it would not be good since it was filmed in the 70's. I don't know what it is, but there seems to be something fundamentally wrong with films shot in that decade (with some notable exceptions).

The music was loud and terrible (very 70's) and I just could not buy Dustin Hoffman as a tough guy. I guess maybe he'll always be Benjamin Braddock to me. None of the other actors were good with the exception of Harry Dean Stanton and M Emmet Walsh. And I couldn't fathom what the heck the final line was supposed to mean.

This was at best a mediocre film, a big disappointment. I would give it a 6.0.

For real? This film has a grittiness that you don't find in post 1980 cinema.

"I should have figured it would not be good since it was filmed in the 70's."

Would you care to elaborate, The Godfather, Taxi Driver, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, guess
the 70's was a poor decade for film, who are you kidding?

Cinema peaked in the 70s

It was terribly boring. Like watching this guy through life in real time. I grew very impatient with it by the halfway mark when I realized absolutely nothing was happening. This ain't no Dog Day Afternoon.
