The Book.

Hey, I would like to know if the book is more criminaley active than the movie. What am trying to say is if the book is more strong? contains more crime scences violence sex? does the book potraits Max as a true lose cannon, MORE THAN WE SEE IN THE MOVIE?

I wouldnt want a remake, not at all, but it would be cool to make another version based on the book, and with the book's title which sounds more hard, and to show all the things that they left out of the book in Straight Time.

I would reccomend all of Edward Bunker's books - a great crime writer, better than that overrated piece of *beep* elmore leonard, Bunker was a con for the majority of his life - if you read and like No Beast So Fierce, i'd reccomend his Memoir, Mr. Blue: Memoirs of a renegade and his other memoir Little Boy Blue, my personal favourite of his novels is The Animal Factory.

To put it simply, yes, i've always found straight time to be a tad comedic, especially the character of Max. Quentin Tarantino called the book "the greatest first person crime novel of all time" - it's the real deal.

One of the best books I ever read, as well as the best crime thriller I ever read!!!!

I mean, all due respect to Elmore Leonard, I love his work dearly. Having said that, he was never a criminal who chased down scores and had to do time in jail.

That's the beauty of this book, because Bunker used Method Writing as his source. I had never read a novel before that was written by an honest to God outlaw (while in prison no less)

Also, if you manage to get a copy of Straight Time on DVD, I highly recommend the commentary. I wish Bunker would've participated too.
