Deleted scene-Gould practicing writing robbery note

I saw this thru Netflix and when I saw it first run in 1978 I remember a scene where Elliot Gould is practicing how to write the robbery note that he gives Christopher Plummer at the end of the movie. This scene was not on the Netflix DVD that I saw. Does anyone remember this scene?

I remember that scene as well, don't know why it was left out of the DVD?

It seems like a scene of that nature would destroy a great deal of the suspense of the final showdown, would it not?
