DVD?

A remarkable film with an excellent cast. Where is the DVD?

reply

I bought a DVD version for £3 (uk) 'Prism Leisure'

its pretty basic though, no features only Chapter selection.

US version?

I've only seen an out-of-print VHS.

Thanks 'dubrobot'! for alerting us to the prism disc. I just received a copy ( UK region 2 pal) today and although it is a basic disc, it is widescreen 1.66:1 and fairly good sound and print transfer. Obscure, but personal favourite little film for me. The "shout" scene out in the dunes is still a visceral gem! Recommended.

Re-released on Monday 22nd October 2007 in the UK with new extras and improved print. Got mine reserved - have read a great review of this at www.dvdtimes.co.uk

i saw a brief mention of the new dvd in the Guardian.

are the extras any good?

reply

Extras are listed here, if you're still interested. The best ones are the commentary (although Kim Newman's presence on almost every commentary of genre films released by Network becomes grating, however, Stephen Jones is always illuminating). There's also a nice Programme Booklet. Well worth it. The Prism release sucks.

It's coming on TCM late at night with another of the director's film, Deep End, in a few weeks.

Very unusual film...

It's a one-legged race to the liquor store
It's just a hop, skip and jump into the tomb

Anyone seeking to buy a DVD-R (in NTSC) of this movie can email [email protected]. Thanks, Howard
