Belloq could easily pass for Glenn Quagmire from Family Guy. Ya gotta admit Belloq is a bit pervy for having a desire to photograph all those women and Violet too at her age. He couldn't get away with that this day and age, methinks.

I don't find him "pervy". In fact, he seems to have an eye for beauty.
He also seems to be the most sane of the group and I love the characters. Have watched this film numerous times.
He's like a child himself. This is why he gets along with Violet.
Well except he's a pedophile even if he tries to deny it.
shareTrust me: If you don't know who Larry Clark is, consider yourself lucky.
shareLarry Clark made the movie Kids, in which once again parents are frightened into believing that THINGS ARE WORSE THAN THEY'VE EVER BEEN AND OUR KIDS ARE GOING TO HELL AND AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Then again, there seems to be a lot of Larry Clarks, so maybe I've got the wrong one.

I'm inclined to agree with the parents as opposed to the Kids! After all, as we get older we do have a tendency to gain some insight. I'm sure those nineteen year olds who were told by Country Joe " How do you ever expect to stop the war if you can't sing any louder than that?" were mighty surprised when their louder voices didn't make the war stop at all, It just drowned out the sound of the bullets for a couple of days.
Parents, if they are genuine parents with some parenting skills, know what is best. That's why they're the parents and you're the kids. They've grown into reflective and cautious adults. You can never understand the love parents hold for their children until you grow up and become a parent yourself. Don't allow it to become too late for you to sit down and thank them for their sacrifice and unconditional love. You won't always have them.

I wasn't putting the blame on the parents; I was putting the blame on the Larry Clarks who make money off of scaring parents. Parents are easy to scare because they have something of such value, their children, to be frightened for. Box office and ratings can always be raised by exploiting that.
And of course there is the fact that every generation thinks that while THEIR parents were wrong to be worried about jazz/Elvis/the Beatles/disco/Madonna, this time around THEY are fully justified in being scared spitless about Madonna/rap/Brittney Spears/psy trance/Insane Clown Posse.
This happens with every generation, and there is always somebody out there, whether it's with Reefer Madness or The Trip or Kids or Rolling, who is willing to scare parents for profit.*

Xenophile (off to listen to some psy trance, or maybe watch The Endless Summer II)
* Actually, Rolling wasn't that bad.
I'd have to agree that Clarke was just trying to scare folks with his movie. Truth is that most of today's parents of teens probably lost their virginity when they were between 15 & 19, just like most people.
Older people love to rag on "kids today" & how they are so different from how it was back in the day. But the truth is that the current generation of parents with teenage kids came of age during the 70s & 80s when sex, cocaine and pot was king. Heck the Vietnam generation are grandparents today and they were the generation of LSD, heroin & free love.
Yep yep. Sometimes I think humanity invented language just so middle-aged cavemen could bitch about the younger cave-generation.
I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.
