I stayed at the hotel where some of this was shot
The hotel is uptown, not in Storyville. However, you can certainly recognize some of the interiors. When I stayed there were a lot more cockroaches than you see in Pretty Baby

shareCool, what is the name of the hotel?
shareThe Columns - it is in the Garden District, on St. Charles
The only thing I knew before sitting down to talk to Ms. Orr about the Columns Hotel was that the property had a scandalous connection to cinema in the late 1970’s: this was one of the filming locations for Louis Malle’s controversial 1978 film ‘Pretty Baby’, which starred Brooke Shields. The movie was shocking to audiences, since Ms. Shields was playing a prostitute in the infamous New Orleans’ Storyville ‘Red Light’ District and was only twelve years old at the time of filming. The hotel celebrates their ties to that polarizing film, by the way: the third floor room in which the movie was filmed is named ‘The Pretty Baby Suite’.
