Shout Factory's DVD and Bluray - Any real difference...?
In picture quality? Seems hard to find out this info. If I can save $10 or whatever, I will forgo buying Bluray on a 30 year old movie. Thoughts?

Drop it like it's legal precedent!
Thanks, man! Might have to wait awhile for BD price to drop, but I'll probably grab that.
shareAge doesn't mean it can't have a strong transfer. Film has the highest resolution so there is no reason for films of any age to look poor if work is put into them.
The New York Ripper looks amazing on BD as does the original My Bloody Valentine and the original Toolbox Murders (except for 1 scene when it gets really dark and grainy, which have more to do with the negative than the HD transfer).
Let's do it to them before they do it to us.
I wouldnt buy either and this is one of my favorites. The reason? Joe Dante stated the film was shot in 1:33:1 meaning the film was not Widescreen. The best version IMO is the 25th Anniversary edition.
"We're together again" -Duane Bradley
Has anybody had trouble getting the DVD with the 3 - D cover? Twice I ordered the DVD and twice I had to send it back as it did not contain the 3 - D sleeve. Any thoughts appreciated. Wayne Mansfield. Ireland.

The film was shot open matte with the intention of matting it down to 1.85:1. Hence, it was not shot widescreen but was meant to be projected filtered to widescreen. Unless you want to put a giant cardboard mask around the edges of your TV, a widescreen disc is proper.
shareI have the blu ray. picture quality looks pretty good. nice transfer
