What was up with the tiny dinosaur thing?

Anyone?

Drop it like it's legal precedent!

I don't know either. It was a great little piece of stop-animation, if I remember correctly. It's also the only definite scene I remember from seeing this movie at the drive-in, and that would've been around 1979!

It worked, I think, because they never did explain it.

I was wondering about the same thing !! I saw the movie yesterday but it never explained what was of the creature? Maybe it was for a sequel that never been done...

Bit of a red herring, wasn't it? - it really portended a lot of the monster effects of the eighties.

I think it was a suggestion that these guys, other than breeding the "enhanced" piranhas, were also doing "research" on other new species - such as that dinosaur look-alike and the other odd creatures we saw in that lab.

I'm sure you're on the money, but it's just different the way it bobs up for a few scenes only to disappear entirely from the story. Classic Corman!🐭

Isn't that a bit the wrong way round? It looks like a straight and very nice Harryhausen homage rather than looking to the future.

Some of the best stop-motion I've ever seen.
