# of takes for Wormer to complete the following scenes...

* When he's talking with Greg in his office, reading the infractions of the Delta House, ending with "every spring, the toilets...explode."

* The grade reading scene and Dorfman puking, during which he says to Bluto "0 point 0."

I would think it took a few, maybe 4. Even though he seemed like a pretty serious guy, for some reason the actor always seemed for a split second like he was trying not to laugh by looking more serious.

Animal House was on a short budget and even shorter time schedule. They "made do" with a lot of scenes that weren't "perfect".

This may be apocryphal, but the story goes that Dean Wormer... well, John Vernon... actually fancied himself to be a funny guy and kept lobbying to have some less serious, more "slapstick-y" scenes like everybody else. Thankfully, John Landis was smart enough to know that John Vernon was at his most hilarious playing it completely straight and serious... and I think we all agree that the result is brilliantly funny. I know I laugh at every scene he is in.
