Homecoming Parade???

I just realized something after 30 years of watching this movie. Doesn't Homecoming usually occur early in the first semester and usually in relation to an early season football game, often the first home game? However, here it's after mid-terms which would be late October/Early November.

Homecoming can be any game after the first one, providing it's a home game and the first game was an away. Football seasons run from Sept. to Dec., so homecoming can be anytime between, usually after an extended away schedule (usually two, three or up to however many away dates they have).

Some schools these days, are away from "home" almost all of the season, due to their low rankings and even lower amounts of money in their coffers.

Many big and powerful schools schedule weaker schools for THEIR homecoming games, so one team may be playing "patsy" to them all season long.

In summary... homecoming can occur at anytime during the season as long as it's a home game after an away game.

Hope this helps.

The funny thing I "realized" after watching this movie was that during said parade, Stork leads the marching band down an alley past a bunch of long-haired, bell-bottom wearing teenagers who are obviously straight out of the 1970s even though the film is supposed to be set in 1962.

Most colleges and Universities that I'm familiar with always have their homecomings in October. A lot of time it's after the football team has had three or four road games in a row, and it's their next home game after being on the road.

Time is fungible in the movies.
