I am absolutley convinced that when I saw this film on it's initial release back in 1978, that it ran 3 hours. Does anyone else agree with me? It was in Ireland, so, maybe there's an alternative European cut? It puzzles me, as it's never mentioned anywhere, not even here on IMDB.
Basically, what you see is what was filmed. The show itself ran for far longer than 3 hours, but most was not filmed. In fact, there were songs they meant to film but couldn't because of tech problems.
If there is a three hour version, it is expanded with materials beyond the original film.
I've heard that there were some Boogie Knight, but I can't seem to find out which songs they had tech problems are. I've seen Lost Waltz, and from the songs omitted from the film, the only one I think would have been an up to par performance alongside the others is Georgia On My Mind sung virtually unseen Richard. I would have put it in there just to show that Richard truly was the lead singer of The Band. Rag Mama Rag was great also, but there were alot of Levon songs.
