Robbie's 'movie career'

Clearly the brilliant-yet ridiculously egotistical-Robertson was grooming Hollywood with his 'look at me' performance in this film courtesy of his best pal Scorcese; yet afterwards he only performed in Carny (immediately after); my question is how come he relinquished his obvious desire to be an actor so quickly? for me he definitely had the presence, look and voice and probably could have guested in every Scorcese movie ever made if he wanted to

I have the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame DVDs, and he's in at least two of them.
but his looks have degenerated over the years and he is now and still a guitar genius.
He really didn't treat his fellow BAND members nicely at the 1994 awards, just sucking up to Eric Clapton. Why wasn't Levon Helm there?
anyone know?

And why did his fellow BAND member commit suicide with a shower curtain? in Winter Park, Fl.? Drugs again?

Levon was throwing his toys out of his pram which is another way of saying he wasnt man enough to put differences aside and just be there

Well, There's more to The Last Waltz than just music...

Robbie was given a dressing room. It was Carol Lombard's oold dressing room and he was working with an agent who was breaking his balls trying to get Robbie work. He came back with some pretty good stuff including a shot any beginning actor would have grabbed. One in F.I.S.T. working behind Sylvester Stallone during his hot days. Robbie refused it. The agent says to RR one day, he says, "You know, I don't think you really want to be an actor" Robbie I guess, relpied "That's must be it" Robbie did want a role in Sergio Leone's last picture "Once Upn A Time In America" but lost out to who knows who. RR played Angelica Huston's new husband "Roger" in Sean Penn's film about the effects of the loss of a child on the parents called "The Crossing Guard" Jack Nicholson had a scene with Robbie's character where Nicholson's character "Freddie" almost tore Roger's head off.

Ironic that Helm's the one who ended up with the acting career. He's been in many films.
