Why Does The Helicopter Pilot's Death Always Get Cut Down On Cable?

It doesn't matter what cable channel I watch Jaws 2 on (AMC, Movie Time, The Action Channel etc..) they always scale back the scene where the helicopter pilot gets eaten...all we usually see is the pilot looking to his left as the shark takes a bite of his pontoon and then he goes under but the whole scene should actually show him underwater...

Alas, what we do get is multiple scenes of that whiny snit screaming at the top of her lungs ad nauseam...

Here's the enjoyable clip:

It's because of the censors. Try watching Jaws 2 on dvd/bluray or on one of the premium channels. If it is still edited there then that would be the way it was filmed. I always thought that the pilot survived.

I see it's on Netflix, maybe they'll show the full version...I can't believe the censorship crap eh?

reply

Netflix tends to show the original versions of the movies. Yes censorship is out of hand. Especially since the scene wasn't that gory.

reply

Exactly!

What really should be censored is that bloody girl who wouldn't stop screaming every two seconds...it's tough when you're actually rooting for the shark...lol

The underwater scene was not included in the theatrical cut. It only appeared in the first TV versions to increase running time to fit a slot in the TV schedule.

Correct.

His beard was shocking. No wonder Jaws went after him.

It had an almost Amish quality to it...

reply

Yep it's got an Amish vibe about it. Worst beard I've ever seen. πŸ˜‰
