Give Roy credit

He didn't even want to be in this movie. He hated it. But he said he would give it his best effort and he did. He was a true professional. I've seen some actors phone it in before, but he didn't.

He's almost as good as he is in Jaws. That drunk scene with Hendricks is as good as anything he did in jaws.

Indeed he was.🐭

If I read right, I believe he was under contract to film 3 movies with Universal, Jaws was the first, Sorcerer was the second, and Jaws 2 was the 3rd

He owned it in Jaws 2. Brilliant performance. Even more brilliant when you consider his heart wasn't in the film. He was a total pro.

SEBO!!!

reply

I disagree, I thought he looked somewhat bored during his performance. Like he didn't want to be there (which was the case).

What is that thing you're using?.... It's technical.

Since when has Roy never gotten credit for J2? I always thought he was as wonderful in this as he was in the first Jaws film.

reply

He might have been even better here than in the original, he was given a real chance to shine here.

A truly original post on IMDB.

If anything, I feel he may've OVERRACTED a bit in Jaws 2, but he was just fine to me.

I say Three Cheers for Roy. As others have noted, he didn't really want to be in this production, but his utter realism and warm-hearted authenticity made the movie work - as did the continuing great depiction of his and Ellen's marriage, as well as Murray Hamilton's endearing performance (DAMN the Powers who deleted his "voting in favor of Martin Brody" scene")...
