I think Jaws 2 was a VERY satisfying and worthy film to the original and whoever thinks this movie sucks I can already see having a problem with other sequels as well.
Jaws 2 is one of the most underrated sequels of all time in my opinion.
It's a very good sequel. It has the unenviable problem of being compared to Jaws.
shareIt doesn't suck, it's very good but average considering it just copycats the first film but creates different outcomes for the shark victims and the ending otherwise it doesn't come close to the original's character interactions.
Roy Scheider performance is very good he wasn't out of character which is something that happens with some sequels.

shareI'll throw in Lethal Weapon II as a sequel that is almost as great as the original...(though I don't think it's underrated, I think most people AGREE it's perhaps better than the original).
Jaws II is a great movie. Certainly a worthy sequel. And all sequels after that were shamefully bad. But the original....is a masterpiece. A perfect storm of time, genre, location, actors, concept, writing, editing, music, etc.
You couldn't recapture that magic today. Jaws is very much a film (and phenomenon) of the 70's.
