I noticed immediaty that the man who warned them in the car shortly before being run over was the guy who played the protagonist in the original, they even made his hair look the same. That was pretty cool.
Also I loved the cameo by Robert Duvall in the beginning. :-)

Yes. Duvall was in it because he's a friend of Kaufman's (the director). He did not collect a salary for it.
