How Violent is it?

How graphic is this movie? I can't watch it if it is like the remake.

about a 7.

"I wished Her back but the dead adored Her, Even wild winds sang in chora for Her"

Its definately not as gory as the remake. Give the original a watch, its much better than the remake in my opinion (same goes with Cravens "Last House On The Left")

Stay away from the original sequel "The Hills Have Eyes 2" that was garbage.

It's pretty tame actually, I expected a lot more gore. The whole movie was kinda mediocre...

reply

agreed, very mediocre at best and gore would be about a 4/10 but that rating is relative to my threshold. I dont know what the OP has watched before.

I think that more recent horror movies have made some people think that horror is jus tabout gore abd nothing else. Not true. Some of the best horror films ever were not gory in any sense!

It's true that the best horror films (like Psycho (1960), The Haunting (1963), Rosemary's Baby (1968)) had little to no gore at all, however I expected The Hills Have Eyes to be a gory slasher, especially judging by it's remake.

reply

I think that was the purpose of the remake - it was remade as a means of introducing more gore into the story than the original. The original was scary, the remake was not just scary though, it was disturbing, because of the gore

not that violent... I think it has one mild scene of a guy who was in an explotion (black of soot, maybe some cuts) and then one pretty bloody scene of a guy who's gotten his tendon bitten by a dog.

its nothing like the remake. very little gore. which I like better because gore isn't all that makes a horror movie good. this is a great solid film. 100 times better than the remake

reply

Not as violent as the remake. And in my view it was better than the remake, as was Wes Craven's other major film of the era, "Last House on the Left".

Big difference for me was that Hills Have Eyes 1977 was scary. Hills Have Eyes 2006 wasn't just scary, it was outright gory and disturbing
