I still don't get the rating
As much as people bitch about the remake of this, it's surprising to see the original has lower actually. :S
shareAs of today, the rating for the original and remake are both the same at 6.4. That actually kind of surprises me. Although I definitely prefer the original, most people I've come across say the remake is a lot better and fixes the supposed flaws it has. I expected the remake to have a significantly higher rating. I personally think both films are good but the original rates higher to me.

The catalyst for why they got stuck in the middle of the desert was absurd in the remake. The dad didn't listen to the guy and went off the road, they were acting like idiots because a plane was flying around and it caused the dad to crash because he was going psychotic. Awful.
At least in the remake it makes it more plausible like the gas station attendant thinking he got robbed so he gives them wrong directions. Then the spike strip is what causes the crash, not a stupid bunny.
Sorry my first paragraph was referring to the original not the remake.
