'Canonize' Dyan Cannon ?

One of Dyan Cannons lines is that people would want her 'canonized' for killing Leo Farnsworth. I've watched this movie 20+ times over the years but not until watching it again today on TCM did this line stand out to me. Did Buck Henry toss this in as a small joke with the audience ? It could be a small (very small) 'inside' joke between the writer and the actress kinda thing since it has nothing to do with any of the characters ... or was it pure coincidence - the line written before Ms. Cannon was even picked for the roll ??
IMHO, Buick Henrys/Charles Grodins sense(s) of humor makes it a distinct possibility that it was intentional. I could imagine either/both sneaking in the line on Ms Cannons copy of the script or suggesting it. Between Henry and Grodin I can just imagine the jokes/wise cracks on the set. Maybe a "Sorry, I couldn't help myself ..." kinda thing. Anyone ?

I always thought this ever since I was a kid, seeing as I had such a crush on Dyan Cannon. She deserves sainthood.
