Warren Beatty's house
Does anybody who lives in Los Angeles know where the house that Joe Pendleton occupies at the beginning of the film is? I'm thinking H'wood Hills but am not sure.

Thanks a lot!
shareWhat'd the guy say?
shareIt's a mansion located on the grounds of Filoli Gardens. That's about 30 miles south of San Francisco. It's also the "Dynasty" mansion (obviously not located in Denver). I believe it might have been used in the Michael Douglas film, "The Game".

The original poster was inquiring about Joe Pendleton's little modern-style home at the beginning of the movie when he is celebrating his birthday. It was really tiny looking and in the hills of Hollywood/L.A. somewhere.
The other mansion - the Dynasty mansion - it's something else entirely... That is Farnsworth's house and is not what the original poster asked about.
Ok so where is that house in the beginning - Joe Pendleton's house in the hills?

Dr. Hemlock,
That is incredible. I google mapped that address. It's just an empty plot on the side of the road, with a seemingly steep incline disappearing down the side of hill as if no house could ever be there. When you look at the house in the movie, you can't really tell where it is but it seems to have a long driveway and some trees that really don't seem like they could be there ever.
HOWEVER, as soon as they cut to Joe on the bike (having left his house), in that first shot, the terrain and the hills on the horizon look EXACTLY the same as in the current google map of that address you gave.
It seems like the address you gave could be the location where he road the bike initially, but is it really where the house was? How did you have this piece of information? It's quite interesting.

Great Detective work Hemlock. You know your stuff. How did you get the location contact list for HCW and then continue to hold on to it some 34 years later? It's definitely a unique perspective and resource!

The IMDB locations list says Topanga Canyon.
