James Mason Stole film

Is it justme- or was james Mason absolutely amazing in this film? That voice! He made you wish he was in more scenes- can anyone imagine another actor playing Mr Jordon better than the late James Mason? He was a true original in every sense- and in this film- the first I ever saw him i, when I was quite young- he made a lifetime impression- the most amazing voice in all movies.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that he stole the film as all the actors were great in their parts. This was one film that with such a great cast all around doing great work from everyone Beatty, Christie, Warden, Dyan Cannon and Charles Grodin, and Mason, that I wouldn't say one person stole the film. They were all good in their respective parts.

In the original, Here Comes Mr. Jordan, it was Claude Rains who had this part. Mason is perfect in the remake - same accent, same upper class air about him.

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Yes James Mason was awesome. Later, I was surprised to learn that he played villanous types of characters.. or at least shady ones... such as in "Casbablanca" and, I believe, "North by Northwest." He was really well cast in this movie.

Change Casablanca to The Prisoner of Zenda.

Interesting mistake. Mason was in NxNW, and Claude Rains, the original Mr Jordan, was in Casablanca.
I just watched Mr Jordan last night, and found Rains the only character I liked better than in the excellent remake. They both did a great job.

A little late to the party, and while I can't necessarily say he stole the film, I can say you're so right about James Mason... he was a consummate actor and so good in this movie... and his voice, wow... much like Ben Johnson or Cary Grant, you could hear it anywhere and know right away it was him... no one else had a voice like his... I do miss him.

I thought he was fine in the role, but I liked Claude Rains' take better. His version seemed more amused by the predicament Joe found himself in, and seemed fond of the guy. Mason hints less at what his character thinks of the proceedings, but still manages to be reassuring and well-reasoned as Mr. Jordan.
