I want to see this movie, but not if it sucks! Any inputs???

Watch Winterhawk instead, the better of Pierce's mid 70s westerns. It got a good review from Roger Ebert, too (***). A beautifully shot western in the style of John Ford.

I prefer "Grayeagle" to "Winterhawk." The latter has its points of interest, like a notable cast, with great alpine locations and moments of aesthetic wonder. But it's marred by a sometimes draggy vibe with overly syrupy moments and a blaring piano-oriented score that starts to grate due to its booming redundancy. Moreover, Winterhawk (the character) is depicted as excessively mysterious, noble and superhuman; not to mention more time needed spent on his group in the chase for the simple sake of human interest. If you can handle these cavils, however, it is a worthwhile Western.
"Grayeagle" may be melodramatic and overdone to the point of near ridiculousness, but at least it has gusto. share
a bad rip off of The Searchers
sharePretty bad. I will admit I wanted to see how it would end, but it's very hammy and cheaply done. I got very impatient with it so unless you are really curious, I wouldn't bother. Too bad Ben Johnson is the star, I always like him.
