I tried to write a review 3 times
Clearly, some telekinetic kid working for the government is keeping me from writing a review. I won't go into details. Forgotten today, THE FURY was the forerunner of the SCANNERS series and is best remembered for its over the top acting and gore. The scene where Carrie Snodgress is spun in midair and bleeds out is as memorable as the scene where Jennifer Jones falls out of the elevator in THE TOWERING INFERNO. These two scenes are so sadistic as to verge on the pornographic. I'm not sure how DePalma ended up with Andrew Stevens in the lead, as the guy could never act (he is every bit as bad as Harry Hamlin). The rest of the cast fares a bit better in this florid melodrama, including Kirk Douglas as Stevens' dad. Amy Irving, unfortunately not much of an actress, nevertheless looked absolutely edible as a fellow telekinetic, and was someone all us guys could fantasize about way back when.
