shareThe "hitchhiker" was a cop working on the case but he got found so they offed him. Scarface wanted to double cross his buddies (Whitey & The Dwarf) so he gave some evidence (the film) to Scotty (the hitchhiking cop and shortlived Gloria date) but the buddies found out and then killed him, before offing Scarface who was trying to retrieve the evidence to protect himself but it was too late.
What was on the film, we'll never know. Snake should have yanked it off the fire before it burned.
The film strip contained the twin brother/imposter priest offing his actual priest brother (JIC you missed that at the film's open), and footage of the cronies planning their assassination scheme (yes, even the intelligent criminals shoot their own propaganda's or proposals, as evidence or follow-up for the Kingpin)
