Compared to the horror films of our day, probably not that scary. But I have always liked this movie and when I first saw it I was about 12 and it scared me :)

"compared to horror films of our day"..

Which exact movies are you talking about? Because I don't find contemporary horrors scary at all - in contrary to some old flicks like "Exorcist", "Omen", "Rosemary's Baby" etc...

Maybe I'm missing something...

Obviously I concur with you. I don't find the "slasher movies" scary- mostly boring. I guess I was saying that for the people who expect all of the movies to be about constant dismemberment.
Another one to add to your great list would be "The Haunting" - the ORIGINAL one- that was a very scary flick- no blood at ALL, just great suspense!!!!

I wouldn't call it scary but it's an entertaining film and worth watching. It works without scares.

Overall it's not very scary, but it has a few well-placed shocks as well as a couple false alarms. The atmosphere is what makes this film, an the performances are very strong.
