This movie was filmed in the town that I live in.

I just thought I would share a bit of information with you.

I live in Las Vegas, New Mexico and this movie was filmed in Montezuma, New Mexico, which is only ten minutes away from my house. My fiance and I love to go to the natural Hot Springs located right in front of the Montezuma Castle, where this movie was actually filmed at. When we're in the Hot baths, we can see the Castle perfectly, which sometimes freaks me out, especially at night. If you ever go to the Castle, ask to get a tour. I have gone through 3 tours there, and it's kinda spooky, but very interesting. This Castle houses the students of the World College, where high school students (10th-12th grade) from all over the world live. There's alot of history regarding this Castle. So look it up!

I think the movie was filmed in 1981.

I just "found" this movie while looking up 'Dark Places', at the bottom of the page, and now I really want to see this! Currently attempting to download a vhs-rip, but that is not a sure thing. People really seem to like this movie a lot though. I remember when it was in theatres, similar in theme to 'The Keep'....?

That's how I found out about this too, I think from the recommendations with "The Dark" (though I see it's not there now). Or maybe it was from browsing the fine filmography of that maverick B-movie treasure Richard Crenna.

If it's anything like "The Keep," I need to see this one. That's a good film (not quite a great film), with an amazing score by Tangerine Dream. Do you like them?

The Dark, Dark Places, The Keep, The Evil.....so many films to see, so little time....ya, I like Tangerine Dream, sure!

It's an embarrassment of riches, isn't it? In many ways, I wish it was still 1978 and I didn't have so much competing for my attention. Interesting how so many titles the films are almost the same, with "The" and a four-letter word.

Yes, I was thinking of 'The Keep' and then I think there was 'The Gate'? about some gate-way to Hell? With German/Nazi 'demons', ring a bell? (what a plotline - reminded myself of that other one, Shock Waves?) -

I remember "The Gate," with a very young Stephen Dorff. Need to seek that one out again. "Shock Waves" I really need to seek out as well, one of Brooke Adams early efforts.

Another thing that gets really confusing is these Italian horror films named "Demons" or "Demons 2" (which isn't the sequel to "Demons," just an unrelated film apparently). Then you have movies like "House III," which actually has nothing to do with the first two "Houses" and is really titled "The Horror Show." I wish video boxes would have their various and sundry titles like IMDb does so I wouldn't keep buying films I already have. Of course, that's the point of the ambiguous titles and repackaging – to sell familiar product as something fresh.

That used to happen to me all the time, especially 20-25 years ago, at video rental stores! I would re-rent the same damn Italian schlock film, not knowing I had already rented it before under a different title! Like Argento's 'Phenomena' was re-named 'Creepers', kinda thing. But the Zombie ones were even worse! Back then, I hated dubbing and really would have hated subtitles. I felt like I had been ripped off by the packaging/distributors, but I guess they got their money out of a lot more people than myself, by being tricky!
I know: Demons, Night of the Demons...one is by Lamberto Bava, the other by an English-sounding name, and yet another....well, Asia Argento is in one, and perhaps Dario produced one of them....it's all so damn confusing, I agree! But the Italian ones are better, I think....

Yes, the Italian ones are the worst with the title confusion. Then you have movies labeled in Italian or in English, which is fine if you know that "Profundo Rosso" is the same as "Deep Red," but not so good if you don't speak Italian.

I've also bought foreign films that the box said were subtitled but were actually dubbed (which I hate). Once I bought "Gacy" and it was dubbed in Spanish. (I guess there was an "En Espanol" stick there, but I didn't notice that.)

Indeed, I went to the World College. Miss Liz has described it aptly, including the view from the hot springs. Part of campus tradition is to, as some point in your two years there, have a screening of The Evil (usually on Halloween), and during the pre-renovation years go on a tour of the castle. Actually, even before the renovations the ballroom was open (and well kept) and frequently graduation get togethers were held there. You'd usually get a tour of the castle during orientation, but now the castle houses two of the dorms for the school, so it is pretty much free entry these days (also this busts the myth that people are afraid to go in there at night). Another cool factoid, on the drive from Las Vegas, NM to Montezuma, you also drive past one of the filming locations for John Carpenter's Vampires.
