It blows my mind how young and beautiful Richard Gere and Sam Shepard were in this movie. Who would've thought back then what great actors they'd turn into. I just love watching them.

What prize do they win? I have to admit that I've never cared for Richard Gere. In fact, the only film performance of his that I really liked was as the sleazy lawyer in "Chicago". I think his good looks are as distracting to him as they are to me. He just rarely comes off the page in any film. It's that smirk, in particular, that takes me out of his acting -- he seems to both be there as well as not be really present. I generally avoid films where he stars -- that's just me . . .
