Why did Damian accept who he was so quickly?

When he first finds out who he is he's scared and goes off running for miles and gets to those docks and screams "WHY ME!? WHY ME!?" but after that he seems completely fine with killing people and being the devils son. He just seemed so distraught when he found out yet the next day he's perfectly fine with it and seems to be happy about it.

I figured they'd be some time in the movie of him denying it and refusing to be what he is, but he's just like "hmm maybe this isn't so bad" the very next day after he was screaming "WHY ME!? WHY ME!?".

Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age.

I agree. I think someone dropped the ball there. The movie could have been much more interesting if it had focussed a little longer on Damien coming to terms with his nature rather than playing Final Destination.
When he ran out onto the dock, I thought to myself, "ooh, nice. The reversal of Jesus' acceptance of his burden. Very interesting!" But then that was all we got.

I was watching some of the Omen Legacy (on youtube) and from what I read in the past, they changed directors, and some wanted Damien to be 17, but others said he should be 13. And David Seltzer said if he was in charge of the sequel, he said he'd have set the second film in the White House after where Omen I ends. Apparently because of the ages of Damien and Mark, that was why the focus was put on Richard and Ann. There is a basis here for a good story, and normally, I hate remakes, but, with the right writing, directing, and casting...I wish they'd do this one right.

I totally agree with your remake stance. I don't normally abide them, but this one could do with a good remake. He'd probably be too old now, but I think Dane Dehaan would have made a good teenage Damian.

I watched this movie last night, and that same thought crossed my mind. It was odd to me how he was all wigged out about it, and then the one kid asked him as they were going to bed: "Hey, are you okay?" Then Damien contently said, "Yeah, I'm fine now." What happened between then? Lol.

He didn't seem content to me Zman, just calm; I've had that calm before after a bad episode and it's just that, calm; not total peace yet. We don't know how long it actually took him to be near embracing it, but according to the book, he even paused for a moment before walking out of the museum before Ann died; he briefly reached out to the boiler room door to help her.

I agree. I felt so bad for him and wanted to see him struggle to accept it or even fight it.

reply

I did too Amy! I always imagined it took him longer to actually accept it, and any other doubts he dealt with were offscreen.

I was a bit disappointed in his *sudden* acceptance too, but I suspect that was due more to time constraints in the film.

But there was one mention of Damien encountering his father Satan (during the first film) in Omen III.
Damien tells Kate that he first met "Old Scratch" (a nickname for Satan) in a park when he was very young.
I think this occurred when Kathy & Robert are walking along in the park, and they discover Damien is not behind them.
They call out for him in a panic, only to find him gleefully giggling behind a tree. He was almost surely talking to "Dad" just then, it also explains why he cries when they pick him up to take him away!

Long story short, I imagine Damien encounters his father Satan again during Part II.
He likely soothes him & 'removes' the last of the good from him then.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.
