Music from the film Convoy
Where can i find the musik from the film ?
shareThe soundtrack is only available by private collectors of the original vynal album. Well if you find listings of each song and it's performer you could attempt to collect from the performer's own tapes/cd's, due the song were quite popular for the era.
However, the Convoy (New) Movie Version will probably remain only available on the vynal album and listening to the movie itself. The music soundtrack is owned by United Artist Music.
You might think it is CW McCall Music. The problem is, Bill Fries and Chip Davis (aka CW McCall) were requested to re-write the original song to closely relate to the movie's story. But due to probably the politics of production and director Sam Peckinpah "Convoy" the movie version will probably never be re-released. But money always talks.

I just watched the movie again (I have the Dutch Canal+ DVD) and then looked in this forum and found this thread. There was a CD with the movie theme song - and I mean the movie version, not the original, and I have it, but I can't seem to find it right now (good thing I have the tracks as MP3s). It also had on it some of the country songs heard in the movie.
There seem to be two sets of lyrics to Convoy in the movie: those sung in various parts of the movie, and those sung over the credits at the end. It is the latter which is on the CD.
I have the original version of "Convoy" by C.W. McCall, which was a #1 pop and country hit. I guess it is suppose to be a novelty song, but whether it is or isn't, it's a good song. Very cool and unusual. And i think it's pretty cool they were able to come up with a movie based on it. Though obviously expanding on the story quite a bit since the song itself didn't have much of a plot.
I think the newer version of "Convoy" recorded specifically for the movie was good as well. With C.W. McCall incorporating things from the movie into its lyrics, which expanded upon the original version. It's a shame that the movie version of "Convoy" is so rare though. I'd like to have a copy.

I have both versions and downloaded them from limewire.com
shareI have a number of versions from Limewire and I wouldn't take what they say as the authors name with a piece of *beep* Fact is if you look at the subtitles on the film it says it is based on a song by C.W.McCall. So there you go.
