I Blame Spider Mike (SPOILERS)

If Spider Mike hadn't punched Dirty Lyle...

If Spider Mike hadn't left the convoy...

Wouldn't everything have turned out better? Wouldn't Rubber Duck still have his rig?

Dirty Lyle was Dirty Lyle and just wanted money and respect. But Rubber Duck wasn't going to beat him over that. He knew that this was part of the game and just wanted to play by the rules, even though he knew they were wrong. Spider Mike broke the rules. Spider Mike punched a cop. That started the whole thing. Everything that everyone else did was all because Spider Mike did something he shouldn't have done. Isn't it all Spider Mike's fault? I blame Spider Mike.

Are you for real? Without what Spider Mike did there wouldn't have been much of a movie. If it's all Spider Mike's fault then why did Dirty Lyle start it off by deciding to arrest Spider Mike for a trumped up charge of vagrancy? Duck came in and tried to mitigate the situation and then Dirty Lyle insulted Spider Mike - again. I would say Spider Mike had every right to deck the guy, who just happened to be a cop...and I guess Pig Pen had nothing to do with suggesting they mess with Dirty Lyle over the radio in the diner...

Ok, I guess you're right. Pig Pen shouldn't have suggested they mess with Dirty Lyle, as that just made him madder. But I don't think the trumped-up charges were a big deal. They would have just bribed Dirty Lyle to let him go and that would have taken care of it. After all, Dirty Lyle didn't really want to arrest anyone and wouldn't have made any money by doing so. He just wanted money and respect. And as I said, Rubber Duck didn't think Dirty Lyle deserved to get beat-up; he just wanted to get them out of there. But he was forced to do what he did because Spider Mike couldn't control his temper.

I think they should have come up with a better reason for why the good guys did what they did, like if they caught Dirty Lyle beating up Spider Mike or something. And they should have given Rubber Duck a real cause, rather than just trying to save himself and his friend from a jail sentence that they deserved. It's never acceptable to punch people for insulting you, whether or not the guy's a cop. And by attacking those two innocent cops, Rubber Duck and Pig Pen deserved to be arrested.
