Will Bruckheimer's remake re-ignite the CB craze of the late 70's?

With anticipation for Bruckheimer's remake hitting a fever pitch, should we expect a revival of the CB craze of the late 1970's?

LOL.

CB's are outdated. Except maybe for truckers.

Easy for them to warn others of a Bear in the area.

technically speaking smokey and the Bandit '77 made that craze more popular. But this movie contributed.

Technically speaking, C.W. McCall wrote the song "Convoy" to cash in on the CB craze of the '70s in 1975, two years before "Smokey and the Bandit" was released. The movie "Convoy" was based on the song, which was very popular. I would suspect that the movie "Convoy" was made in part due to the success of "Smokey and the Bandit" (a much better movie I might add).

I don't have an opinion. The word "opinion" implies the possibility I'm wrong.

Technically speaking, Radio Shack had a lot to answer for.

I always thought the CB radio had been superseded by the mobile 'phone.

Once the Australian Government stopped charging people for CB radio licences I figured the craze was over.

There are some of us still want a CB on long distance runs in low population areas. Truckers use them very little. Some areas there is little or no phone reception in this day and age. However I noticed when I rode in my brother-in-laws truck there was very little traffic on his CB down HWY 5 over a distance of about 400 miles. My ex and I used the CB for communication back in the '70's because we lived way out of town with no close phone connection. I still remember our license # to this day. It was the local version of the old time phone party line. I also still have my club pin and hangers. A hanger was a favorite personal saying or joke. Mine and several others had the saying of "Sex is a misdemeanor. The more I miss de meaner I get!" The fake southern accent seems to be a thing of the past however except for a few die-hards.

Reminiscent of Smokie & the Bandit? Kristopherson instead of Reynolds, McGraw instead of Field? Borgnine instead of Gleason? Notwithstanding only a one year difference. I like the way Kristopherson got out of a ticket by appealing to the officer's dirty mind at the beginning.
