Lyle - Once a Good Man?

The manner in which Duck and Lyle interact is interesting. Particularly where Duck is concerned. Duck seems sad and disappointed in Lyle, rather than outright angry with him. I get the impression he knows this man well enough to be saddened seeing him become such a hateful bully, and you don't get sad like that unless you knew the guy back when he was a better person.

Even in Lyle's first scene, Duck introduces Lyle to Spider Mike and Pig Pen as though he's an old friend he's embarrassed about as opposed to a lifelong enemy.

So what's their story? The most we're told is Lyle wrote Duck his first ticket. Was this when they met? The way they banter even while enemies suggests two friends who had some kind of rough falling out, likely over Lyle's corruption.

I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?

It's an interesting question. There are clues there, and you mentioned a few. We also see a slight sliver of humanity from Lyle when he sees a beat-up Spider Mike. He clearly was not on board with it, and as he's leaving the cell he seems sincere when he tells Mike he'll let him know if he hears anything about his kid.

I think that Lyle was already corrupt when he gave Duck his first ticket. Because when Lyle trapped Duck, Pigpen and Spider Mike, they all get out of their trucks and Duck asks Lyle "How much"? Duck already knew Lyle was after money. That's how I saw it anyway.
