Unofficial Sequel in Audiobook Form Released 8/26/04

If "Coming Home" touched you like it did me (I saw it last night for the first time in 25 years), consider getting hold of a copy of "Camouflage & Lace: My Journey with a Windbender" by Diane Ford Wood. This is a powerful audiobook that in some ways, is a sequel to this movie. It is a thinking persons' gift of heart and mind, an unusual peace project, but a peace project just the same.

Wood had a relationship with Bill Hager, the prototype for the Bruce Dern character (Bob Hyde). Thirty years later, she has written a 96-minute audio book with eight original songs to help make sense of the impact of knowing this man and other members of Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW). (Bruce Dern swam off to sea, but Bill Hager lived on, at least until twenty years ago when he was last heard from by friends and relatives.)

On the 2 CD set, Wood narrates and sings, and a group of readers (mostly Vietnam Veterans) relay direct quotes from historians of the Vietnam War era to back up her story. A beautiful musician (and former VVAW member) Russ Scheidler plays the music.

The website www.alaskapress.org tells more about the project, the readers and how it connects to the movie "Coming Home." The audiobook was just released on August 26, 2004 by Alaskapress Productions. It can be ordered on www.alaskapress.org now, or on CDBaby.com after September 15, 2004. Help us get the word out.

"There are wars, and there are wars," Wood writes in one song in this project comments. Especially now -- ain't it the truth?

Peace. A Friend
