Questions about the music... the FBI parts... and IMDB votes/rating

First off, the soundtrack was amazing, but what was weird is that all of the music was played a such a low, and soft level. I don't understand that. Was I the only one who noticed how all this classic rock music was always played at a very low level to the point where you can barely hear it?

Also what did the FBI want with Jon Voight's character? I didn't understand that part. Why were they following him and invading his privacy to such an extreme level?

Lastly, I am shocked that this movie has less than 4,000 votes and just a 7.3 rating. I hate those rants people go on like "JUST A 7.0 RATING?? SHOULD 9.0!!!" or something pedestrian like that. But this movie is brilliant and I can't help but bring this up. And it doesn't even have 4,000 votes on it?? How does something like The Deer Hunter released the same year, and which only won a couple of more oscars have 80,000 votes, and this equally great movie only 4,000?

Re: the FBI: When Luke goes to visit Sally, after Bob has gone to see him, Luke refers to the scene where he chained himself to the gates of the Marine Recruit Station. He implies that he was being watched because of that incident.

I recently watched this film for a media course and was also surprised by the low number of votes and the low rating. Off the top of my head, my best guesses in comparing it with The Deer Hunter is a) some people are still angry with Jane Fonda's anti-war stance and have not voted or have voted accordingly and/or b) people voting on imdb preferred the darker elements and the more typically filmed war action/drama of that movie compared to the character action (character transformations) of Coming Home.

Tho it is dark . . . know our flag . . . is still there.

I just saw this in a movie theater, and the music came across fine. Maybe it was a little bit muted, but then if the music was louder, it could have drowned out the dialogue.

I'm guessing you saw this on home video and heard the soundtrack through your TV speakers, not with the sound quality of a theatrical exhibition.
