Is Voight better here than De Niro in The Deer Hunter?

Yes, Voight can convincingly cry, DeNiro can't.

One thing I detest is the stench of......lies.

No way, That scene in Deer Hunter when DeNiro's eyes water unexpectedly when they are being forced to play RR (after Nicky shoots himself first time I think), was fantastic.

HOWEVER, 2 different performances; both off the charts fantastic. Glad Voight won.

No, bro. But he's definitely oscar worthy. I'm actually content that he won.

Voight was brilliant talking to the kids at the end and De Niro was brilliant during the RR scene with Walken but no Oscar for De Niro. How do you compare such performances?
