Inspired the Island?

i should think that 'Parts: The Clonus Horror' inspired 'The Island' not this, seen as the director of 'Parts' has taken the director of 'The Island' to court over it.
The Island is a complete rip off of 'Parts' so you might not want to ruin this film by mentioning them in the same sentence

I saw Parts: The Clonus Horror on Mystery Science Theater 3000 and agree that was the inspiration for the The Island.
In fact, the movie links page for The Island lists it as "Remake of The Clonus Horror (1979)"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399201/movieconnections
I think it links it in this way as a mistake as there is an ongoing legal battle between the directors of both films or at least the studios that they each come from, claiming that The Island is a rip off of Parts: The Clonus Horror.
if you go to the message board for Parts there are lots of threads about it. I too saw the MST3K version - i love it

If you're interested, here's a review of The Island that includes a section on the similarities to Parts: The Clonus Horror:

Actually, "The Island" is a much closer adaptation of the novel "Spares" by Michael Marshall Smith:
Dreamworks bought the rights to this novel, then when they lapsed ended up making "The Island".
It's possible Smith saw "Cronus" but unlikely, but its certain that execs/producers at Dreamworks read "Spares" (which, by the way, is a terrific book)

I've never seen the Clonus Horror. Want to check that out.
