the bootcamp scenes were more intense than FMJ...

the 'grab your nuts scene', the hispanic DI, and a young R Lee Ermey - a combo of these is what I found very intense

Totally disagree. The DIs in this movie seemed pretty tame in comparison to the tough as hell Gunny Hartman in FMJ. Hartman was the kind of DI who would take a wayward recruit into the head and make sure he "slipped and fell" quite a few times. Definitely not someone to mess around with. That fat hispanic DI in BICC looked, acted, and sounded like a lame caricature.

I went through USMC bootcamp at Parris Island in Feb 1972. The FMJ bootcamp scenes are the most realistic in my opinion.

I found D.I. Aquilla slightly less intimidating than Sgt. Hulka from "Stripes".
