Joan's Fight With Mitchum

I crave the way Robert and Joan battle on that sofa, and she ends up with that horrendous run in her pantyhose. The way she gasps and groans, agonizingly caressing her own flawed leg, just drives me WILD.

LOL, thats one scene i remember a lot.

"Get up off the the floor...you look like a Pekingese !"

Nice comic moment, yet I prefer the sight of Joan stroking her injured knee. She was so out of breath after that struggle, and obviously writhing in agony over her that terrible run in her pantyhose. She also adjusts her blouse and pats her hair. What comeupance, yet Mitchum(or the other guy) should have come to her aid.

It's a hilarious scene, with plenty of scenery chewed and spit out. I love the utter shock in Joan's eyes when she sees the run in her pantyhose. I wish I could say the rest of this film was as fun, but it was pleasant enough entertainment.

I also loved the shocked look in Joan's eyes as she first sees that run, and how she tenderly strokes her knee and thigh, agonizing over her ruined pantyhose. Her breathless sighs and groans are priceless!

Yes, that whole scene was so fun. Unfortunately, the rest of the film was somewhat tedious.

Definitely the highlight of the film for me too. If the rest of the film had been this fun, I would have liked it a lot more. Instead, I found it extremely hard to follow and quit following the plot about halfway through when they lost me. Some good performances here by a very strong cast, but the script and direction were a bit of a mess – like Joan's pantyhose.

At a point, I only enjoyed it for the dynamics between Joan's and Mitchum's characters. Note how she haughtily drums her long, red nails upon the desk when he waits in the bookstore. When they fight, the result is a perfect comeupcance. Agnes is writhing in agony, without a thought of that gun... fluffing her disheveled hairdo, adjusting her blouse, and of course, running her hand over that terrible run in her pantyhose.

By the way, note how she crosses her legs afterward, trying to hide it.

Woah yes, I played the scene with the pantyhose a couple times, so it's seared in my memory now. Joan is priceless in this film. If only she could have had a larger part, this film could have been truly worthwhile. Coincidentally, I just watched Joan in "Empire of the Ants," a film she hates (probably with good reason), but Joan chews up the scenery.

I love her whole look in the aftermath of the fight...and note her deliciously pouty lips. Wow!

In the bookstore, those long claws are a silvery white, NOT red. Not red at all.
