Candy Clark = world's worst actress

If there was any doubt about that, all anyone need do is watch her in this. She were memorably bad enough in The Man Who Fell to Earth as it were, but *here* her talentlessness is out of control! I just kept wishing someone would chuck a bucket of cold water over her.

I agree that Candy Clark was terrible in "The Big Sleep". She really ruined the scenes she was in.
Sarah Miles was miscast in the film but Candy was, as you say, the worst. She had no sense of pace.
Joan Collins was surprisingly one of the better actors in it!

She was so bad in this that I was amazed when I realized it was the same actress who gave a good performance in "American Graffiti". Aside from Mitchum and Stewart, this movie was a disaster. I blame the director.

In her every scene, I wanted to punch her violently in the face. What. WAS. all. that? Was she supposed to be a druggie? A schizophrenic? She was just MADDENING. Bad, bad, bad acting. Absolutely dreadful.

The role of Camilla Sternwood is absolutely essential to the plot of the picture. In the book she is portrayed as none too bright, likes her booze, and allows men like Geiger to inject her with probably some type of opiate for the photo shoot. She also obviously has a vitriolic hatred for men she wants that refuse to have sex with her. Candy Clark's "performance" is beyond horrible. It is even more incredible that she has had steady work till this day as an "actress" in Hollywood.

Yeah, well, the whole movie is ridiculous so she matched just right. In The Man Who Fell To Eart is even more inept and annoying.
