DVD?
Any news about BARRACUDA coming to DVD?
shareI was just thinking the same thing, 6 hours later.
shareYeah, I would like to see this movie on DVD...
Ramones, the best band ever.
Me Three! Originally this caught my attention on commercial TV at some obscure hour-probably just around the same time that Cable TV hit my area (around 1981) and there were plenty of new small channels looking for anything to play at all hours of the night-naturally in the days before infommercials killed all of the "B" movie oldies being played.
I happened to tune in at the start and was immediately drawn to the music track by German synthesizer composer Klaus Schulze-a track I recognized from his "X" album (from 1978), so I stayed with it. It was a good choice for music I thought. Sticking with the movie-though far from perfect-it does have a nice odd atmosphere-perfect for this kind of movie and i've only seen it that once-but have wanted to see it again ever since then...
It's interesting you mention the Klaus Schulze connection, as it seems the music from X was actually recorded as the soundtrack for this film. He mentions in the liner notes that he visited the set of the film, so it seems like he was directly involved in creating the music for the film.
I too would love to have a DVD, especially since the old VHS copy I rented eons ago seemed to have some strange edits in it. It was if the video had been made using a damaged print or something.
Dark Sky Films is releasing this movie on a drive-in double feature-type disc with "Please Don't Eat the Babies" on September 30, 2008. The suggested retail price is $14.95.
300 bios and counting.

Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully, it'll be a decent print they use, and not the one from the old VHS version (which as I said had some weird jumpcuts, one of which obliterated part of the closing credits).
I've purchased a couple of drive-in doublebill-style DVDs from Dark Sky Films and they both were acceptable quality transfers from original film prints. Best of all, the movies were even widescreen and letterboxed!

Well, hopefully they'll do the same with Barracuda. I rented this on VHS back in the 80's, and, as I said, there were a couple very bad edits (one taking out a portion of the closing credits), as if to suggest it was taken from a damaged print.

shareI read it is coming out with "Island Fury" not the beautifully titled one you mention.
Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.
