I remember the hanging of Eve Wilder in episode 600 being pretty shocking when I saw it on TV in the UK over 25 years ago.
That was the last time I saw it and I'm up to episode 597 on youtube. It'll be interesting to see if it still has the same impact all these years later.

I cant remember the names or anything (I was about 12 years old when I saw it in the 90s - 33 now!) But it was a murder we didn't see on screen. But somehow it was much more harrowing left to the imagination and has still stuck with me all these years.
It was when a crazy inmate (she was a doctor - the name Kate rings a bell but I'm not 100%) trapped another inmate in the garbage van to be crushed to death. It was only later on when nobody could find her that the inmates realised what had happened. Arrrggg
I just loved that era of episodes. That was Kate Peterson killing Sandy Edwards. I seem to remember reading that it was deliberately left open-ended as to whether she killed Sandy. The actress who played Sandy became pregnant and she left but the garbage van storyline was written like that in case she came back.

The Freak's lover got run over by a car. Ok, maybe not the most gruesome but unexpected and outside the prison walls.
