Seriously, he looks definitely 50ish. People seem to have aged faster back then. I see pictures from the 80s and they all look older. Maybe it's distorted by our perception of past times, but maybe people didn't take care of themselves as much as nowadays.

If you look at both Steves closely you will see they look their actual age in the 80's.
Premature loss of hair is another one that makes a young actor look older.
