Mickey Trotter - an afterthought, if that

Poor Mickey dies after being paralyzed from the neck down. And boy, did everyone move on with their lives.

Sue Ellen continued to groan about all her guilt. But did she ever once visit Mickey at the hospital? No, she didn't

Lucy didn't even wait for Mickey's body to get cold in the grave before she was drooling after Peter Richards. Although it was hard to ignore those tiny briefs he swam in (and filled out so perfectly)

Pam never once called Lucy or visited her to see if Lucy needed support. Lucy and Pam were always very close, but once Pam moved off Southfork, I don't think they ever spoke again.

Miss Ellie, who was normally very compassionate, didn't seem to give a hoot about Mickey's death when she returned. Did she ever even mention him again?

Even Ray barely mourned. The second he was sentenced, he was off living it up at the Oil Baron's Ball.

Geez, so cold-hearted.

I was glad to see the back of Mickey I never liked him. I know I am in the minority here, I always found him childish and ungrateful. I don't think Donna was keen on him. She only put up with him because of Ray.

I disagree about Ray , he never shut up about "Micky's death" he went on about it for years.

Lucy always seemed to get over blokes pretty quickly. Never understood why either Lucy or Sue Ellen were into Peter. Peter was a mistake character.


Fair enough!

There did seem to be a difference by the end of Mickey's life - some maturity. He wanted to make something of himself, though yes, he did joke about living off Lucy's money but he didn't have a pride thing about it like Mitch. Mickey also tried to keep a good attitude in the hospital, even stating he was happy to be alive, until it became too much for him and he lost hope.

It wasn't really that that bothered me. Just the way he wasn't very respectful towards His Mother, and to Ray and Donna who were all just trying to help him. He did seem better at the time he was in Hospital but then they killed him off.

Sadly enough the actor who played him Timothy Patrick Murphy died of AIDS in real life in 1988. I wonder if he knew he was ill? Dack Rambo who played Jack Ewing and Tom Fuccello who played Dave Culver also died of the AIDS virus in the 90's.



As did Ben Piazza who played Walt Driscoll in season 6, the driver of the car who hit Sue Ellen and Mickey's car.

Yes, it is sad. I wonder the same thing. I don't know how HIV/AIDS manifests itself and how early or late noticeable symptom(s) show up.

Well in the 80's and the 90's people were dying a lot quicker. I remember them saying that you had about 8-10 years but that varies since most people probably don't realize they had/have it before it's too late. But nowadays you do have people living long lives. Charlie Sheen for example has come out as being HIV positive. Now if he had got in back in the 80's and 90's he would probably have died but they can control it now apparently. I have seen a few documentaries on the subject. It is surprising just how many famous people have died of it. The guy who played Frank Williams in Knots Landing Larry Riley also died from it. I remember some of his last scenes in KL and he did look ill. It was a new disease back in the 80's when all those TV stars probably had it long before they knew they were dying. So people were dying all the time. The guy who plays Micky died in 1988 and he was in Dallas 82-83 but worked right up until the year of his death according to his wiki page

So he died about 5 years after he was in Dallas. He may well have had it then but just wasn't aware because he wasn't showing any symptoms.


I'm sure many of us know Rock Hudson was getting treatment while on DYNASTY as well.

I know that there was some rumours about Linda Evans worrying about her kissing Rock Hudson when she was in Dynasty. Of course that was back in the 80's when people were still finding out about the disease.



Get your facts straight. Many people on the show said Linda was NOT worried one bit about kissing Rock, but many others in the crew and cast were worried about her and worried for themselves. Linda was given blood tests, but Linda herself was the eternal optimist.

And for the record, the AIDS/homophobia wasn't limited to Dynasty. Reportedly, Priscilla Beaulieu Presley refused to do love scenes with Dack Rambo during the 9th season (dream season) of Dallas because he was known/rumored to be bisexual. (He came out as HIV + in 1991 and died of AIDS in 1994). Reportedly, the Jack-Jenna romance was scrapped because of Priscilla's refusal to do love scenes with Dack.

I wasn't being rude, I was correcting the record. There were rumors but you got the rumors incorrect. The rumors NEVER said that Linda had a problem with Rock. The rumors were there was panic on the set after the kiss, from the cast and crew that Linda may have caught something from Rock.

Dack Rambo did not actually die from Aids. He died from a heartache. He had hiv, but did not succumb to it..He also had become a Born again Christian and taught healing...

Well it depends, Magic Johnson was diagnosed as being HIV + in November 1991 almost 25 years ago and he's still alive and kicking.

That's true there is lucky few who got it back then who are still around. I think there are different strains of the disease.



I actually liked Mickey talking trash to Ray, he was so right. He was annoying when he had a change of heart near the end.

I had to laugh when I got to the part about Peeeeeter filling out his briefs!! He looked like he was 12 years old!!! I said i before and I'll say it again, If they would have hired a really hunky actor for the part it would have been so much better. He did truly look like a friend of John Ross!!

I found the way they dropped Pam and Lucy's friendship to be weird. Lucy gets remarried to Mitch Cooper and Bobby tells her as an afterthought. Pam managed to stay close to Sue Ellen, but she never gave Miss Short Dallas a second thought.

Those are all my exact observations!

Except I think Ray did mourn an "okay" amount of time, though it could've been longer. Even some episode after the Oil Baron's Ball, he mentioned calling and checking in on Aunt Lil.

Anyway, binge-watching the series a second time does not help as it all becomes more glaringly obvious...
